Donahue's memoir of a little girl finding adventure in the common life is entertaining and well written. Her antics in the neighborhood and schools borders enough on the innocent to keep you smiling. She has just enough Spanky and the Gang involved to keep you shaking your head wondering how she didn't get in more trouble..
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The antics and mischief Sheron got herself into brought laughter from the beginning. At times, I imagined her thinking, "the devil made me do it!", as she seemed mature for her age from the time she entered the world. Blessed with loving and understanding parents, Sheron certainly gave them a run for their money. This adventurous tale is very well written, has wonderful descriptions, and is a delightful, easy read. I'm looking forward to Sheron's next `adventure'.
Realizing that Sheron is one year older than I, there were very many experiences in her book that brought back poignant memories, some a little painful. A wonderful read, I kept laughing throughout, except for the times when I was rueful of some of my own early behavior. This is a true memoir of a more innocent time when life was much simpler, and I can't help but think, a lot more enjoyable. I highly recommend it .
I found this to be rambling and dull....couldn't finish reading it. I was hoping for charming anecdotes but it was just slow and pointless "remembering". If I wanted that; I'd just call my mother-in-law...
A delightful memoir that would be enjoyed by anyone who grew up in the 50s or thereabouts. I especially enjoyed the antics of her younger years, the true rascal era!
